| “This fiftieth anniversary will be one year to reaffirm the principles of the United Nations Charter" I believe that inside this frame it is where it is necessary to fit the initiative that you have contributed. It constitutes, so, a contribution to all the efforts that, since the General Secretary has said, at the public opinion level, have to be made in order to put into practice the principles of the United Nations Charter". These were words of the Spanish delegation representative before the United Nations, Mr. Arturo Laclaustra, during the academic act which took place in the Cervantes Institute, in New York, to celebrate the event of the delivery of the Letter of Peace to the UNO.
Cervantes Institute library was the meeting point for persons that had congregated forthwith on the occasion of the delivery of the Letter of Peace. In this reception, the most important organisms and representatives of all those who have collaborated in the different presentations of the Letter of Peace all across the world took part.
The Director of Ambito de Investigación y Difusión María Corral, Mr. Joan Viñas, who presented and moderated the act, delivered to the Delegate of Culture of the Cervantes Institute, Mr. Jose Maria Conget, the Letter of Peace in Castilian and in Catalan and a collection of books published from the Interdisciplinary Days that Ambito Maria Corral organize since year 1980. Mr. Jose M ª Conget expressed his gratefulness and said that this material would be accessible to all readers who frequent the library.
The guarantors of the Letter of Peace: Mr. Jorge Wertheim, Director of the UNESCO Office in New York and representative of the UNESCO before United Nations, and Mr. Juli Minoves, representative of the Principality of Andorra before the United Nations, also intervened.
The national counselor of Switzerland and president of Pro-family, Mr. Vidal Oardellay, said some words of praise to the text of the Letter of Peace. For his part, the journalist Mr. Abel Hernández, from Madrid, spoke about the education for peace. Mr. Enrique Castillo, Rector of the University of Our Lady of the Peace in Tegucigalpa, was grateful for the labour carried out in Honduras. The publicist and delegate of the Ambito Maria Corral in Hermosillo (Mexico), Mr. León Mayoral, spoke about the construction of the peace in the world. Mrs. Isabel Figueiredo, Director of programming radio in Lisbon, expressed what for her it had meant to collaborate with the Letter of Peace. Mrs. Petra de Llanos, Delegate of the Ambito in Seoul, spoke about the socio-political reality in Korea and about the need of peace. In the last of the interventions, Juan Miguel Gonzalez-Feria, one of the founders of the Universitas Albertiana, highlighted that the Letter of Peace "has been an alive instrument that has helped many persons". He also underlined the importance of studying and knowing the history, "since this concrete history has done that we exist". Finally, he went in depth into the different points of the document emphasizing its progressivity.
The act was concluded by the Director of the Ambito Maria Corral, Mr. Joan Viñas, inviting to tribute a toast to the peace and wishing that the Letter of Peace reaches different days runs all across the world and stimulates to a change of attitudes in people.
